Protesting Child Labor
Reformers of the 1900's worked together to protest against child labor. The Knights of Labor was the very first U.S. labor union organized to fight for better working conditions in 1869. In 1904, the National Child Labor Committee was established. Its goal was to create national child labor laws. Lewis Hine joined the NCLC in 1908. Hine protested by publicizing the photographs he took of working children. Others protested by participating in marches and publishing propaganda.
